What are Trulia map overlays?

Trulia has several map overlays within the search experience that can give you insights into what a place is really like before you even step foot in the vicinity.

Below are just a few of the many map overlays we have to help with your home search:

  • Schools: We receive ratings from Great Schools and school boundary information from Maponics to help focus your search for where you want to be
  • Crime: We receive crime data from third party sources, CrimeReports and SpotCrime. The crime info we display is classified based on 1.5 years of data, and we only evaluate violent or property crimes in the calculation.
  • Demographics:  Trulia’s demographic maps use U.S. Census data to break down things like age of residents, percentage of owner-occupied homes, percentage of residents with college degrees, and more.
  • Commute: Check how long it will take you to get to work with the commute map overlay on the search map. You can select between driving times or public transit times, whichever you prefer.
